Powell River Fire Rescue called to extinguish campfire

Deputy fire chief reminds public that a campfire ban is in effect

Powell River Fire Rescue firefighters were called out on Thursday, August 1, to extinguish a campfire that had been burning in the area of the cut, between Willingdon Beach and Townsite, near the haul road overpass.

Deputy fire chief Rocky Swanson indicated fire rescue members been putting out fires like this for months, and reminded people that there is a provincial ban on fires, including campfires.
