Powell River Community Foundation awarded six organizations in the qathet region with grants at a recent recipient ceremony, held at Cranberry Seniors Centre on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Every year the foundation gives away thousands of dollars to organizations in qathet. This year a total of $32,658 in grant money was awarded to a variety of community groups.
Powell River Community Foundation’s board of directors awarded organizations with cheques and recipients at the ceremony described the work they do in the community.
The awarded recipients were: Four Tides Hospice Society (formerly Powell River Hospice Society); Friends of qathet (formerly Friends of Powell River); Powell River Therapeutic Riding Association; qathet Film Society; Powell River Sunset Homes Society and Powell River Salmon Society.
According to the Powell River Community Foundation website, more than a quarter of a million dollars has been granted to local charities since 2001.
The deadline to apply for next year's Powell River Community Foundation grants is April 15, 2024.
