Powell River RCMP responded to 145 total calls for service from September 25 to October 2, including five thefts, seven assaults, 10 cases of mischief and four related to mental health.

September 25; Joyce Avenue, 4600 block
Police responded to a report of an assault at a business. An employee reported that a male had come into the store and slapped him. The male then tried to slap the employee again, but the employee was able to grab his hand and told him he was calling the police. The suspect, a 31-year-old male from Powell River, was arrested for assault a short time later by police. A bail hearing was conducted and the male was released from custody with conditions the following day.

September 27; Westminster Street, 7000 block
Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot at Beach Gardens Marina. The vehicle, a white, single-cab 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with black trim, had been parked at that location the previous night at around 8 pm. The following day, the truck was located by police in the parking lot of the Community Resource Centre. The truck was found running, but not occupied. The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking any potential witnesses to contact Powell River RCMP at 604.485.6255.
