Police Patrol: Powell River RCMP report

Officers responded to 140 total calls for service last week, including an assault and a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident

Powell River RCMP responded to 140 total calls for service from September 18 to 24, including nine thefts, two impaired driving incidents, seven assaults, 11 cases of mischief and six related to mental health.

September 18; Thunder Bay Street
Police received a report that a vehicle had backed into another vehicle in a parking lot on Thunder Bay Street during the night. A witness observed the incident and recorded the licence plate of the suspect vehicle. 

Video surveillance was reviewed and the driver of the vehicle was observed backing into another vehicle and then driving around the parking lot to park in a new location. The owner of the vehicle was issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act.

September 21; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 10:45 pm, police responded to an assault that had just occurred. A man reported that he was walking northbound on the 4900 block of Joyce Avenue when another man who was known to him, stepped out of the woods and hit him in the arm with a pipe and threatened to kill him.

The suspect was identified and arrested for assault with a weapon and uttering threats. The man was released to appear in court.
