Police received a report from Blackberry Festival organizers that a fraudulent message had been posted on their Facebook page. The individual had posted a vendor application form requesting information and that payment be made to an illegitimate email address.
Blackberry Festival organizer Kelly Keil noticed the post and promptly removed it from the page. Keil was worried that a potential vendor may have made a payment to the fraudulent email address before the post was taken down and advised that the only legitimate email address for Blackberry Festival is [email protected] and payments are only made to Powell River Chamber of Commerce.
RCMP is asking anyone who may have made a payment to the fraudulent email address to phone the detachment.
