Powell River RCMP officers reported the following for July 5 to 11, 2023.

July 7; Saskatchewan Avenue
At approximately 2:06 am, Powell River RCMP received a report that a female was observed on video surveillance in the yard and carport of a residence. Police received a similar report that a female was seen on video surveillance approximately 10 minutes later, rummaging through a vehicle parked in the carport of a residence on Abbotsford Street.

After reviewing the video, police conducted patrols and located the suspect. The 25-year-old female was arrested for theft under $5,000, times two, and trespass at night, times two, and released to appear in provincial court on September 15, 2023.

July 7; Warner Street
At approximately 8:54 am, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter to a residence that had occurred earlier that morning. The homeowners found a bunch of items that had been taken from their shop and strewn about their yard.

The homeowners reviewed their video surveillance and observed two females inside their shop taking items. The homeowners recognized the females and advised police that they had observed several of their stolen items on the suspects’ property.

Police reviewed the video and confirmed the identity of the suspects. The 40- and 41-year-old females were arrested for break and enter and released to appear in provincial court. Several stolen items were recovered and returned to the owners.
