Powell River RCMP reported the following for January 13 to 19, 2022.

January 13; Ontario Avenue, 4800 block
At approximately 11:23 pm, police responded to a report of a stolen pickup truck that had been parked on Ontario Avenue. The owner had left the keys in the vehicle while visiting a friend and heard his truck revving from inside the residence. The owner looked out the window and saw his truck driving away. The truck stalled out and the owner saw a male youth run out of the truck and down the road. The youth was apprehended, arrested for theft and released to appear in provincial court.
January 15; Joyce Avenue at Barnet Street
At approximately 7:34 pm, police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Barnet Street and Joyce Avenue. The pedestrian was crossing Joyce, heading eastbound at the marked crosswalk and was struck by a vehicle turning left from Barnet onto Joyce. The pedestrian was wearing all black and the 30-year-old male driver stated that he did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk. EHS responded and assessed the pedestrian, who did not sustain any injuries. The driver was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian contrary to the Motor Vehicle Act.
Powell River RCMP would like to remind all drivers to be extra cautious of pedestrians as they are difficult to see during this season of extended hours of darkness and heavy rains. RCMP also reminds all pedestrians to be vigilant when crossing the roadways and to wear bright, reflective clothing when walking in the dark.
January 16; Duncan Street, 7100 block
At approximately 1:20 am, police responded to a report of a female wandering inside the fenced compound of a business. The shop owner attended and determined that the compound had not been locked and nothing appeared to be missing. The 40-year-old female was issued a violation ticket for Trespass on Enclosed Land or Premises contrary to the Trespass Act.
