FOG WARNING: At 9:30 am this morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued an alert, warning of near zero visibility in fog expected or occurring for the qathet region until 8 pm this evening.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued an alert on Wednesday, December 4, at 9:30 am, warning of near zero visibility in fog expected or occurring from sḵelhp (Saltery Bay) to Lund.

"A ridge of high pressure over southern BC is creating favourable conditions for dense fog development," stated the ECCC warning.

The fog may lift by late morning, but fog and low clouds may reform this evening and visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.

"Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility;

if visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance," stated ECCC.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.

Weatherhood is forecasting a daytime high temperature today of six degrees Celsius with no chance of rain.
