A seven per cent increase to the 2020 Lund sewer user fee schedule will be recommended to the qathet Regional District board.
At the Thursday, November 14, committee of the whole meeting, regional directors examined an initiative to adjust rates.
According to a staff report, to support the provisional 2020 budget of the 2019-2023 financial plan, user fees would need to increase 13 per cent effective January 2020. The staff report stated that while a 13 per cent increase would support the budget, staff recommended consideration of partially funding the water masterplan, valued at $40,000, from the community works fund.
Staff have assessed that the wastewater masterplan would meet the community works funding criteria under the capacity building category as it advances asset management practices.
