Indecent act draws attention of Powell River RCMP

Police warn public and seek information about incident at Willingdon Beach

On May 19, Powell River RCMP received a report of an indecent act that occurred at Willingdon Beach sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 pm that day.

A woman reported that she was sunbathing on the beach when an unknown man approached her and engaged in conversation of a sexual nature. The man allegedly had his hands in his pants and propositioned the woman. The woman refused and the man left.

The man is described as Caucasian, in his mid to late 50s, approximately 5’10’’ tall and weighing 165 to 170 pounds. The man has short gray hair and a gray beard.

The man has two dogs: a white pointer with brown spots, and a skinny black pitbull cross. He drives a dark gray Hummer H3.

Service calls
Police responded to 130 total calls for service from May 15 to 21, including 10 thefts, three break and enters, two impaired driving incidents, one assault, 10 cases of mischief, and nine related to mental health.
