Flurries expected to ease midday in qathet region

Snowfall warning from sḵelhp to Powell River and Texada Island.

Environment and Climate Change Canada  (ECCC) issued a snowfall alert this morning, Tuesday, February 4, until after 2 pm this afternoon from sḵelhp to Powell River and Texada Island.

It is expected that 20 to 30 cm of snow will accumulate today.

The ECCC warned that an unstable air mass combined with an area of convergence over the Strait of Georgia will continue to produce areas of convective flurries over the region. These flurries are expected to ease near midday.

According to Weatherhood, the current local temperature is minus two degrees Celsius and will warm up to zero degrees by the afternoon, with a mix of sun and cloud. This evening the temperature will drop to a chilly minus six degrees and then drop again to minus 10 overnight.
