Snow continues to fall across qathet region

SNOW DAY: Snow is accumulating across the qathet region, today February 3, including on Lois Street in Wildwood [above], and will continue until tomorrow evening.

Snowfall has blanketed the qathet region. Currently the temperature is minus two degrees Celsius and 3.65 centimetres of snow has accumulated.

BC Transit has indicated that service may be impacted. Waste and recycling pickup has been suspended for now in City of Powell River and qathet Regional District. Vancouver Island University tiwsemawtx campus is closed for the rest of the day, due to snowy conditions.

Weatherhood is indicating the temperature will drop to minus seven overnight.

A snowfall alert from Environment and Climate Change Canada indicates that 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected to fall, beginning this afternoon, Monday, February 3. The snow is expected to fall until 7:30 pm this evening, from sḵelhp (Saltery Bay) to Powell River.
