Six candidates are seeking to represent the North Island-Powell River riding. The Peak interviewed each candidate during the campaign, except for People's Party of Canada candidate Paul Macknight, who chose not to accept the opportunity to answer our questions. Here is what the candidates had to say:
- Conservative Party of Canada: Aaron Gunn
- New Democratic Party: Tanille Johnston
- Liberal Party of Canada: Jennifer Lash
- Independent: Glen Staples
- Green Party of Canada: Jessica Wegg
During an all candidates meeting at Powell River Recreation Complex on April 17, candidates answered questions on how they plan to support local businesses and subsidies for large corporations, about government spending and how Canadian resources are harvested and sold, as well as crime and policing, the coast guard and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, transparency from politicians and Canadian unity, and missing and murdered Indigenous women inquiry recommendations.
The Peak will post results at prpeak.com as they become available tonight.
