4. February 26 to March 18

Complex Way

City of Powell River conducted a traffic study near the new bike and skate park. Out of the 33,000-plus vehicles that were tracked, over 80 per cent were speeding at an average speed of 42.5 kilometres per hour, but the fastest speed registered was 95.6 kilometres per hour. Police would like to remind drivers that all of Complex Way is a 30-kilometre per hour speed zone. The area around the skate/bike park is a playground zone which comes with a $196 entry level fine for speeding and increases to $253 if speed is more than 20 kilometres per hour over the limit. With this recent study people can expect to see stepped up speed enforcement conducted in the area.
