1. December 16

Abbotsford Street and Willingdon Avenue

Police are currently investigating willful damage done to city property. At approximately 11:30 pm an officer on patrol noted that a stop sign at the exit of the old arena site was bent completely over to the point the sign portion was touching the ground. Tire tracks were present indicating that a larger vehicle had run over the sign. There was also evidence that a vehicle had been doing doughnuts in the dirt parking lot near the sign. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to please call Powell River RCMP at 604.485.6255 or contact CrimeStoppers 1.888.222.8477.

2. December 20

7400 block Highway 101

At approximately 2 am police responded to a single-vehicle collision south of Powell River. The investigation determined that a 1994 Dodge Shadow was heading southbound when it slid out of control and collided with a cement barrier. The driver, a Powell River resident, was not injured in the crash. The roads were snow-covered at the time.
