City of Powell River mayor Ron Woznow.

City of Powell River mayor Ron Woznow has been granted a temporary leave of absence by council for the remainder of the year while he recovers from a medical procedure.

The request was made on October 10, according to a media release issued by the city on October 28. Woznow has said he will attend meetings remotely when possible, the release stated.

The acting mayor rotation to cover absence will be as follows: in October, councillor Rob Southcott; in November, councillor Earl Almeida; and in December councillor George Doubt.
