City of Powell River Council has adopted four permissive tax exemption bylaws that will waive municipal and other local taxes for qualifying organizations.
The bylaws, which provide for reduced local taxes for qualifying organizations, must be passed by the end of October to meet provincial regulatory requirements. At the October 24 city council meeting, councillors unanimously endorsed the permissive tax exemptions.
First three readings to the bylaws were given, and the names of the included organizations, were given at the October 10 council meeting. An amendment to include Powell River Sunset Home Society was carried by councillors at that time.
