qathet region residents will be able to connect with Vancouver by bus as of April 10.
Dmitry Tyunin, Sunshine Coast Connector operations manager, said people from this region have steadily been in contact with his company.
“They send me lots of messages about the closure of the airport,” said Tyunin.
He said Sunshine Coast Connector ran service from City of Powell River to Vancouver from 2016 to 2019. He said, however, that year-round service was discontinued because there was little to no ridership.
Fare for a one-way trip from Earls Cove to Sechelt is $55, and from Langdale to Earls Cove is $60.
“Hopefully, we’ll get more people on the bus,” said Tyunin.
According to a schedule that has been made available online, passengers will head to Vancouver on the BC Transit Bus 12, which leaves from Town Centre Mall north at 10:27 am. Riders can then take BC Transit Bus 90 from Sechelt to Langdale ferry terminal for the 3:15 pm ferry.
Heading northward, the ferry departs Horseshoe Bay at 9:45 am and the Sunshine Coast Connector bus departs from the Langdale terminal at 10:35 am, making stops in Gibsons, Sechelt, Secret Cove. Madeira Park Garden Bay Road, Ruby Lake Resort and Egmont per online request, arriving at Earls Cove at noon for the 12:15 pm ferry. Passengers would then take the BC Transit Bus 12 from Saltery Bay.
