Bodies found

Investigators are looking into the deaths of two adults after a search lead to the discovery of their bodies at Bliss Landing.

A concerned family member contacted Powell River RCMP on Tuesday, September 29 and requested police help in locating two of his relatives, said constable Tim Kenning in a media release.

Police began searching for the adult male and adult female and located the two bodies inside the family’s summer home in Bliss Landing, located north of Powell River.

“Based on preliminary evidence, there is nothing to suggest this incident poses a threat to public safety,” said Kenning. “Police are not seeking any suspects in relation to these deaths at this time.”

Vancouver Island Major Crime Unit has traveled to Powell River to assist with the investigation and BC Coroner Service has initiated an investigation into these deaths.

Police have confirmed the investigation is not linked to the ongoing search for Charles Yvon Mercier, reported missing on Tuesday, September 22.

Names of the deceased are not being released and police said that no other information will be made available at this time.
