BC Ferries has revised its evening schedule following Environment Canada’s severe weather forecast for high winds in the Strait of Georgia.
BC Ferries issued a service notice at 11:58 a.m. on Nov. 12 to update the sailing schedule between Horseshoe Bay and the Sunshine Coast.
The revised schedule for Nov. 12 is as follows:
- 6:30 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 7:30 p.m. departing Langdale
- 8:40 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 9:35 p.m. departing Langdale
- 10:55 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
The notice advises customers travelling through to Powell River, when onboard a sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, to speak with the chief steward to ask for confirmation on whether the sailing is being held for transfer traffic.
Environment Canada predicts windstorm will last until Wednesday morning.
Winds are expected to reach 70 km/h with gusts up to 100km/h.
The “vigorous Pacific frontal system,” will move over the B.C. coast tonight, with high winds potentially resulting in power outages from tree branches and adverse road conditions.
