Royal Canadian Legion hands out first poppies of 2021 in qathet region

Acting City of Powell River mayor, Tla'amin Nation hegus and qathet Regional District director receive poppy as annual campaign kicks off

The ceremony was held at city hall, known as the MacGregor Building, which is named after Victoria Cross winner John MacGregor, Canada’s most highly decorated soldier.

The annual poppy campaign will begin on October 29, with poppy trays being displayed in a number of locations.

Proceeds from the local poppy sales go toward supporting veterans and their families in the qathet region.
