Got Talent? Show Us! is the latest project for The Rotary Club of Powell River.
According to Rotarian and talent show coordinator Robin Morrison, “Rotarians are calling this Variety Show meets Powell River Idol.”
She came up with the idea and pitched it to members of the club who enthusiastically offered their support for the event that will take place on Friday, October 18, in Evergreen Theatre at Powell River Recreation Complex.
“As well as being an entertaining evening of performances, it is a fundraiser,” explained Morrison.
A variety of acts by performers of all ages will be considered. Solo, duets, trios and small ensembles in dance, poetry, slams, musical theatre, piano, percussion, acoustic strings, folk or classical are encouraged to enter.
Audition performance links of no longer than four minutes can be submitted from September 9 to 26 to [email protected]. Names and contact information are also required.
There will be a $10 entry fee for the 14 chosen acts when they are notified of their acceptance to be showcased in the concert.
Cash prizes of $500, $275 and $150 go to the top three acts as chosen by a panel of judges.
In addition to the show, there will be a silent auction, a fun game for youngsters, Rotary puzzle sales as well as tickets for the Great Grocery Plus raffle and 50/50 tickets. Funds will be used to support Family Place as well as local Rotary projects and Rotary Foundation international projects such as the effort to eradicate polio.
The evening begins at 6 pm with a reception hosted by the Point Hospitality Group.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students and will be available in late September at several locations and the door.
