Powell River Community Foundation recently hosted Tracey Vavrek, director of learning and network engagement from Community Foundations Canada, who spoke to elected officials and leaders from the qathet region about the importance of the role of community foundations in building strong communities.
Every year the local foundation gives away thousands of dollars to organizations in qathet, including $32,658 in grant money to a variety of community groups in 2023.
According to the foundation’s website, more than a quarter of a million dollars has been granted to local charities since 2001.
