Before Pacific Region International Summer Music Association Festival (PRISMA) takes over the music scene in the qathet region next month, here is a look at some of the highlights from last month's Townsite Jazz Festival, which featured an eclectic lineup of local, regional and national musicians.
Headlining artists included vocalist Heather Bambrick and bassist Jodi Proznick, both Juno nominees (Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences awards).
The lineup also included organist Dr. Tony Genge, drummer Kelby MacNayr, the John Lee Trio, Brazilian guitarist Celso Machado, the Bruce James Orchestra, and ensembles from Brooks Secondary School in Powell River, Reynolds Secondary in Victoria and Gleneagle Secondary in Coquitlam.
Townsite Jazz Festival first launched in 2017 and had built momentum ever since, despite two COVID-19 pandemic-related postponements in 2020 and 2021.
