Photos: Terry Fox Run at Powell River Recreation Complex

Close to 300 people competed in the annual event, raising more than $23,000

Powell River Recreation Complex served as the start and finishing point for the annual Terry Fox Run on September 15. Organizer Leslie Paul said the 2024 run was a success, with close to 300 people competing in either the 3.5 or 10 kilometre route, with many volunteers on site. A pancake breakfast awaited participants at the finish.

"The weather was perfect and lots of people showed up," said Paul. "So far the total of in-person and online donations is $23,955."

Paul said they also sold-out of T-shirts, which added another $955 to the total donation amount going toward cancer research.

“It is the second highest amount raised since the first run in 1989.”
