Lena passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023, at Evergreen Extended Care, with her family by her side.

Lena was predeceased by her husband of 67 years Felice in 2017, her siblings Enrico, Livio and Ida, and her daughter Davina Grundle in 2021. She is survived by her eldest daughter Anna (Bert) and son Vittorio (Shelley).

Lena was blessed with seven  grandchildren Christina, Jennifer, Felicia, Elena, Andrew, Denise and Robert, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Also, Roy Andrews, Davina’s partner, who provided unforgettable support to the family.

Lena was born in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy, on February 22, 1930. They immigrated to Canada in 1954 to provide a better life for their family, settled in Wildwood, then later building a new home in Westview. She worked for many years as a short-order cook at the Rodmay Hotel and Marine Inn.

Lena was quite the character with a great sense of humour and adventure. She became quite the pool shark and loved playing cards with her grandchildren, who all knew she had a tendency to cheat. Over the years she had many successful trips to various casinos, including her annual trips to Reno and Vegas with friends and family.

In her retirement, she loved gardening, taking care of her grandchildren and hosting many memorable family dinners.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at ECU who provided excellent care for Lena over the last five years.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Powell River Hospital Foundation (ECU) or the charity of your choice.

Funeral service, Friday, February 17, at 1 pm, Church of the Assumption.
