It is with very heavy hearts we announce that George Douglas Murphy passed away peacefully at home. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grampie, cousin and friend.
George was born in Marrtown, New Brunswick, to Hawlie and Blanch Murphy. George married his wife Laura Ferguson on February 23, 1963, and moved to Powell River in 1978.
George is survived by Laura, his sister Diane Mackay (Sydney), his children Reba Ferguson, Ron Murphy, Laura Melvin, Leanne Hanson, Marjorie Murphy, Frank Murphy (Laura) and Scott Murphy (Karlissa), and son-in-law James Stevens.
George had 29 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Hilda Melenchuk (Clarence), his brothers Arnold (Freda) and Russell, and his youngest daughter Donna Stevens.
