Valerie McCallum submitted today's colourful feature photo, which she took in the late afternoon yesterday from the wharf at Westview Ferry Terminal as Salish Orca was about to depart for Vancouver Island.

On this day:
In 1559, the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn known as “The Virgin Queen,” Elizabeth I was crowned Queen of England at age 25. She was born in 1533 and died in 1603. Boleyn, the second wife of the king, was executed when Elizabeth I was two years old.

In 1969, Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl was born in Ohio.

In 2005, in the first-ever outer solar system landing, the European Space Agency’s Huygens Probe landed on Titan, one of Saturn's moons.
