In 1783, William Pitt the Younger became Britain’s prime minister at the age of 24, the youngest ever to hold the position.
In 1904, Dawson City (Yukon) Nuggets hockey team began a nine-day walk to get a boat to Seattle and catch a train to Ottawa to play for the Stanley Cup. After completing the journey, in January 1905, Ottawa Silver Sevens won the series over the Nuggets in two straight games by scores of 9-2 and 23-2.
In 1986, director Oliver Stone’s war movie Platoon, starring Charlie Sheen, was released in theatres.
