Leane has come up with a system of “barcoding” the genes of local species and has found some that might be misclassified, wildly misnamed or suspiciously far from their natural habitat. Powell River Festival of the Performing Arts opens for the 75th time with piano sessions at 9:30 am, 1 pm and 7 pm Saturday, February 23, at James Hall, Powell River Academy of Music. These sessions are open to the public. There is no charge of entry however donations are welcome. A workshop is scheduled for Sunday morning, February 24.

Reach to Recovery provides hospital and home visits to recently diagnosed breast cancer patients.
