Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for areas including the lower Sunshine Coast as of 4am on Jan. 30. That states "A wintery mix of weather conditions are expected to impact the South Coast of BC for the next several days. A low pressure system is making its way towards the BC coast with steady precipitation beginning this afternoon. Due to initially low freezing levels, wet snow is likely over higher elevations with some areas receiving near 4 cm by Friday morning when the snow is expected to change to rain for most regions".
Over at Weatherhood, the prediction is at a 99 per cent chance of precipitation today and tomorrow, with both rain and snow possible. The chance of wet conditions lessens to 65 per cent on Saturday and Sunday the odds of mixed rain and snow is back up at 99 per cent.
The overnight low temperatures are, in Weatherhood's view, going to drop by Tuesday, when a low of minus 11 degrees is in the outlook. If that becomes a reality, it will be the coldest weather the lower Coast has experienced in the 2024/25 winter season. Burrrrr!!!
