"A significant fall storm is impacting Vancouver Island and the BC south coast," that statement reads.

"A rapidly deepening low pressure system has arrived approximately 500 km west of Vancouver Island. This low is forecast to curl northwards today towards the Central Coast, remaining offshore through the period. Strong southeasterly winds will continue today with peak winds expected this morning. Wind should ease late in the day. East-to-west inland valleys can expect very strong winds as well. Some areas can also expect heavy rain at times during this event, but winds will remain the primary concern."

For emergency preparedness tips, that sources recommends visiting the Safety Canada website.

According to Weatherhood, winds in the Sechelt area in the 20 to 25 kilometre per hour (km/h) are forecast to continue throughout Wednesday, with their speeds dropping to 10 km/p by Thursday morning. The chance of rain continuing throughout today and into tomorrow is between 50 and 60 per cent.
