An investigation continues into the cause of a boat and trailer fire, which took place in Secret Cove Tuesday, Dec.3, around 4:30 p.m.

Kody Raymond, deputy chief of the Halfmoon Bay Fire Department, said 10 firefighters, including himself, responded to the fire and they were able to extinguish it before it spread.

“It was parked up against a structure and there were a lot of trees around it, so we were concerned about an extension to additional areas,” said Raymond. “But, because of the quick extinguishment and containment, there was no further extension to any of the surrounding trees or houses.”

He added, while there were no external fuel cans visible, it’s assumed the boat had a tank full of gas, which was another reason for the quick attack.

“It's something that we do train for all the time, for a quick attack on something like that,” said Raymond. “So, for us it was a smoothly run call, because it's something that we're prepared for.”
