B.C. Provincial Court charges have been stayed against a woman in an alleged aggravated assault connected to a popular Vancouver strip club.
Angela Rosario Ravina-Quispe, 42, had been charged with aggravated assault in connection with an incident involving another woman June 21, 2020, according to the charge information sworn in October 2020.
The incident took place at Brandi’s, an establishment described on its website as “Vancouver’s legendary strip club.”
The case had been set to go to trial June 24-25, 2024, with Ravina-Quispe representing herself.
She had vigorously denied the charge despite several lawyers having told her to plead guilty.
Crown prosecutor Justine Jarvis stayed the charges June 6, 2024.
However, the case returned to court Tuesday as Ravina-Quispe applied for digital recordings of all court appearances, of which there have been more than 70.
Judge Patricia Stark granted that application, the second time such an application was granted.
There had been a guilty plea and a sentencing hearing scheduled, but that plea was struck Dec. 14, 2023.
A not-guilty plea was entered Feb. 2, 2024.
