A man who stole 12 pints of ice cream from a Vancouver Real Canadian Superstore in September has been sentenced to 60 days in jail and one year’s probation.

Jake David Boudreau appeared before Vancouver Provincial Court Judge Laura Bakan for sentencing on Oct. 7.

Crown prosecutor Louise Gauld told Bakan that Boudreau, 33, had gone to the store, concealed the desserts and left the store.

When a security officer gave chase in the parking lot, Boudreau yelled, “I’ll stab you, I’ll f****** stab you,” Gauld said.

She said he reached into his pocket, causing the guard concern.

He was later arrested by police.

In a second matter, Gauld said Boudreau was seen entering a Vancouver parking garage and was found inside a vehicle, a breach of earlier court conditions.

The sentence was a joint submission to the court by Gauld and defence lawyer Zack Myers.

With credit for time spent in jail, Boudreau has 33 days left on his sentence.
