eXp Realty embraces technology

Cloud-based model makes finding the perfect home in Powell River easier

The world of the modern real estate industry is quickly moving ahead to embrace the cloud, leaving behind the brick-and-mortar.

Longtime real estate agent Josh Statham is welcoming the changes and now works with eXp Realty, a global community of agents and industry professionals with the tools and technology to help clients buy and sell more efficiently. 

"Traditional models are having a hard time keeping up with rapid changes we've seen in the industry," explains Statham. "The tech, centralization and support that eXp brings allows agents to do a better job for clients."

Although agents can work from anywhere, Statham has set up an office at 4561A Marine Avenue in Powell River. He and real estate agents Jasmine Brown and Andrew Roddan are excited about joining eXp's cloud-based, technology driven community. 

"My experience with eXp Realty has been incredibly positive," says Roddan. "The model provides flexibility, allowing me to better serve clients while maintaining a great work-life balance."

The biggest difference between eXp and other agencies is the technology, says Brown.

"We have access to virtual meetings and user-friendly apps that our brokerage has created for us to connect with agents in other communities," she adds. 

Johanna Jackson (unlicensed), owner of qathet-based Motive Media, does marketing for eXp and says its agents are empowered to develop their own personal brand. 

"Agents can leverage the strength of eXp’s cohesive corporate brand, all while maintaining their unique identity,” says Jackson. “This combination helps them stand out in a competitive market.”

Every agency tries to reinvent the wheel when it comes to buying and selling property, but it wasn't until eXp launched a centralized model that things really changed.

"Everything is more streamlined," says Statham. "That doesn't mean clients are having any different interaction with an agent, but what they don't see is easier, available and on demand."

Agents are free to focus on growing their business and doing good work for clients.

Roddan believes the collaborative culture is a huge advantage.

"The technology, training and revenue-sharing opportunities make it an exciting and rewarding place to grow my business," adds Roddan. "Moving to eXp Realty has been a great decision, both professionally and personally."

The real estate market in Powell River has been a rollercoaster in past years, but in 2024 saw a bounce back of sorts. 

"We saw healthy growth in volume, sales, single-family home prices did not dip very much at all, and we saw a lot of positive indicators," says Statham.

Roddan is seeing buyers from across BC and Alberta who are drawn to Powell River for its affordability and lifestyle. 

"Many outdoor enthusiasts, especially mountain bikers, are looking for a community that offers year-round riding without the high price tag of other well-known biking destinations such as Squamish," says Roddan. "Powell River is also a great place for young families, offering a small-town feel, a strong sense of community, with excellent outdoor recreation, good schools and a welcoming atmosphere."

Brown says buying a home can be a stressful process.

"Our goal is to make the process as streamlined and enjoyable as we can," said Brown. "From initial consultation appointments for buyers and sellers to professional marketing, we treat your home journey like our own, with the same effort and care."

Statham says what eXp provides is an advantage.
