Known for its Szechuan and Cantonese dishes, Dragon House recently welcomed a talented cook from Thailand.
"We've always done buffets, but now we offer them twice a month with 16 to 20 dishes, including Thai and Chinese favourites," says restaurant manager Nanthida Sutnoi.
The new buffet offering with its variety of choices is $32.95 for adults, while seniors aged 60 and over receive a 15 per cent discount. Children between the ages of six and 13 can dine for $17.95, and kids five and under eat free, making it a fantastic option for family outings.
Dragon House is now offering a 10 per cent discount on all pickup orders of $30 or more, making it even more enticing for patrons to enjoy their favourite dishes at home. For those who prefer the option to enjoy lunch or dinner at their own table, Dragon House offers a "buffet tray" service.
"You can call, order a large container and have a buffet at your own place," adds Nanthida. “It’s perfect for parties or family gatherings.”
Apart from its regular menu, the restaurant has introduced a new line of bubble teas, with flavours ranging from traditional Thai tea to mango and strawberry milk, adding a sweet touch to its offerings.
Nanthida highlighted some must-try Thai dishes for new visitors.
"Our Pad Thai prawn and prawn cashew chicken are exceptional, and don’t miss the crispy noodle, it's a customer favourite."
Highlights of the Chinese menu include seafood with tofu. Meat lovers can savour dishes such as beef with ginger onion, chicken with ginger onion, and mixed meat with tofu, each offering a unique blend of flavours.
For those who prefer a bit of spice, the satay beef and satay chicken are must-try options. They are marinated in a rich, savoury satay sauce that complements the tender meat.
Dragon House also offers catering services for various events, providing both pickup and delivery options to accommodate customers. Whether it’s a small family gathering or a large celebration, the restaurant’s catering service promises to enhance any event with delicious, freshly prepared meals.
Owner Riamradmanee Diana says it’s wonderful working with her family, but her employees are like family, too.
“I love the people working for me, like my family,” says Riamradmanee, who is Nanthida’s mother. “It’s a family business, and we treat each other and our customers like family.”
Dragon House is located at 126-4801 Joyce Avenue in Powell River. Customers seeking Chinese and Thai flavours can drop in during operating hours from 11:30 am to 8 pm Monday through Saturday, and Sundays from 3 to 8 pm.
