Founded nearly four years ago, Constellation Countertops emerged from a simple idea that filled a significant gap in the local market. What began as a modest venture quickly gained momentum.

"We knew quite a few people in town, and before we knew it, we were quitting our day jobs to focus on countertops full time," says Marcus Canning.

One of the key factors that sets Constellation Countertops apart is its deep commitment to the qathet community.

"Everyone who works for us lives here; we all have families here," adds Marcus. "It's cool that all the money that comes into us goes back into the community."

Canning’s team recently invested in a state-of-the-art laser templator, which ensures that even the most complex countertop designs fit perfectly.

"This laser templator allows us to digitally measure countertops with incredible accuracy. The result is a higher-end product with a much tighter fit and a cleaner look."

Specializing in hard surfaces such as quartz, granite and marble, Constellation Countertops helps customers choose the right material for their needs. Quartz has become a popular choice due to its durability and low maintenance.

"Quartz is man-made, about 90 per cent natural quartz mixed with resin. It's hard to scratch, doesn't stain and doesn't need sealing. Plus, the patterns are consistent, so if you see a design you like, you can get that exact look."

Natural stone options like granite and marble offer unique, organic aesthetics, but come with a higher price tag and require more maintenance.

"With natural stone, you're getting a one-of-a-kind slab straight from the quarry," says Marcus. "It's pretty cool, but quartz often offers the best all-around value."

From the initial consultation to the final installation, Constellation Countertops provides a personalized experience. Customers are encouraged to visit the newly relocated showroom at 4573-B Marine Avenue to explore a wide range of samples.

"We invite people to come into the showroom to choose their product. We'll walk them through the process and then provide a free estimate. Once they decide to move forward, we handle the rest, from ordering the slabs to installation."

Being a local business has shaped Constellation Countertops' approach to service and community engagement.

"We often find ourselves working for friends and neighbours," says Marcus. "We have great relationships with contractors and kitchen builders in town who consistently use our services."

The company also navigates unique challenges specific to the area, such as installations on remote islands without vehicle access.

"Logistics can be tricky, but we always manage to get the job done.”

Marcus expresses deep appreciation for the community's support.

"We wouldn't be here if it weren't for the community backing us. We're super grateful to all the contractors and homeowners who have supported us along the way."

Constellation Countertops’ recent move to the larger showroom offers more space to display an extensive range of samples.

"The new space is much nicer and allows us to showcase more options," explains Marcus. "We want people to know we've moved, but we're still here, ready to help with their countertop needs."

The company encourages homeowners considering a renovation to reach out.

"Even if you're just starting to think about a new countertop, give us a call. We're happy to answer any questions and help you find the best fit for your home.”
