Aero Powell River Services, located at 7327 Duncan Street, has long been known for its automotive parts and tire services, but the family-owned company is now ramping up its retail options as it transitions to a new generation of ownership. The long-standing business is showcasing new product lines as part of its continued dedication to community service.

With a legacy stretching back 50 years, Aero remains firmly committed to its “people before profits” philosophy, all while expanding into new products and welcoming fresh leadership.

Originally purchased by Kip “Grandpa” Brown and Andy Burne (Kip later bought Andy out), Aero began as a small machine shop branching into parts and tires, eventually partnering with Kal Tire, and at one point owning local taxi company Aero cabs. Over the decades, Kip’s daughter Lori Brown took over ownership (2000).

Now, Lori’s son Taran Brown is stepping into management, allowing his mother to begin a well-earned retirement.

“We want to carry on what Grandpa started: putting people first,” says Taran. “It’s always been about supporting our customers and our community.”

Beyond its long-standing core of tire services and automotive parts, Aero is making a significant push into broader retail offerings. From Chilly Moose coolers and audio equipment to the newly arrived Broil King barbecues, the inventory reflects Taran’s vision of making Aero Powell River Services a one-stop shop for vehicle needs and outdoor-recreation gear.

A major goal is to expand the company’s automotive inventory, ensuring that common parts for many makes and models are readily available.

“We want people to walk in and find what they need on the spot,” explains Taran. “That means larger stock levels and quicker service for our customers, so no waiting on orders.”

Central to Aero’s success is a devoted group of employees, many of whom have served the company for 10, 20, or even more than 30 years. Taran points to this loyal team as the foundation of Aero’s reputation.

“Our team is our biggest asset,” he says. “Their knowledge and experience help us maintain quality and customer satisfaction.”

That commitment to quality includes extensive training through Kal Tire’s “Journey to Zero” program, which seeks to minimize on-the-job injuries, as well as Red Seal certification opportunities for employees in the parts department.

“We invest in our staff,” says Taran. “That investment keeps turnover low and ensures our customers see familiar faces year after year.”
