Real estate sales in the qathet region for December 2023 outpaced sales from December 2022.
Powell River-Sunshine Coast Real Estate Board president Neil Frost said the figures from December 2022 were “dead slow.” An interesting statistic from December 2023 was that there were five sales in the condos, apartments and duplexes category, according to Frost.
Per statistics from the real estate board, in single-family residential sales, there were seven in December 2023, totalling $4,479,900, compared to nine sales in December 2022, totalling $4,194,800.
In the mobiles and manufactured homes category, there were two sales, totalling $292,500 in December 2023, compared to one sale, totalling $349,900 in December 2022.
For condos, apartments and duplexes, there were five sales, totalling $2,023,000 in December 2023, compared to one sale, totalling $349,900, in December 2022.
Totals for residential sales were 14 units sold in December 2023, totalling $6,795,400, compared to 11 units sold in December 2022, totalling $4,882,150.
On the non-residential side, there was one parcel of vacant land sold in December 2023 totalling $399,000, compared to one parcel, totalling $300,000, in December 2022.
There was one $1,600 industrial, commercial and institution sale in December 2023 and none in December 2022.
Non-residential totals are two units sold for $400,600 in December 2023, compared to one unit, valued at $300,000, in December 2022.
Grand totals of residential and non-residential sales indicate 16 in December 2023, valued at $7,196,000, compared to 12 in December 2022, valued at $5,182,150.
The average selling price for a single-family home in December 2023 was $639,986, with an average of 65 days on the market. In December 2022, the average selling price was $466,089, with an average of 104 days on the market.
There were 21 new residential listings in December 2023, and six new non-residential listings, for a total of 27. In terms of active listings at the end of the month, there were 100 residential, plus 56 non-residential, for a total of 156 listings in the region.
