With 190 votes, incumbent qathet Regional District Electoral Area A director and current regional board chair Patrick Brabazon led Denise Smith (86 votes) and Mark Johnston (72 votes) in preliminary general election voting results released by the regional district on Saturday, October 20.
Of the three Electoral Area B candidates, Mark Gisborne garnered the most votes (237). Janet May received 205 votes while Alan Rebane collected 157.
In Electoral Area C, candidate Clay Brander received 343 votes, 200 more than Connie Keiver (143). Robert Higgin received 49 votes.
Current Electoral Area D director Sandy McCormick was elected for another term by acclamation.
Seeking his fifth term as Electoral Area E director, Merrick Anderson received 28 votes after preliminary results were tallied. Challenger Andrew Fall’s vote total was 233.
