I was sorry to read about the dispute between some residents of Wildwood and inclusion Powell River concerning the possible presence of a “challenged” person in the Wildwood area [“Conflict tests community inclusiveness,” November 2].
Presumably those objecting are fortunate enough not to be challenged or disadvantaged. I am sure they have many positive qualities. Perhaps they can find room for some compassion, understanding and, yes, inclusion for those not so lucky.
Inclusion Powell River fills a much-needed position in our community. Those workers who care for special needs children and adults have a difficult job and deserve our cooperation.
We are not all perfect. If this person should be located in a “remote, rural environment,” possibly so he or she could not be seen or thought about, who will be next?
