To be fair, as author of the letter [“Texada concession is a community hub”], this was submitted on May 13, prior to the article [“Texada Island beachfront concession faces decommissioning”], which was published on May 15.
The concession stand financial shortfall could be addressed by levying a nominal increase for Area D/Texada Island ratepayers. If the rental cabin idea came to fruition, will it be accessible to low income individuals?
If not, then we are on a slippery slope to gentrification. Well-heeled individuals outside their cabin, sipping wine while drinking in the view, as the community and visitors line up at a food truck. Is this a good look?
