Sea Fair is just two years away from celebrating 50 years in the community. This is an impressive milestone that is a testament to the selfless determination of its organizers, many of whom have agreed to keep the event afloat until 2013 despite their wishes to pass the torch to a younger generation.
Past presidents, chairs, secretaries and volunteers of recent years have returned in various capacities to ensure that this long-standing community tradition carries on for the short term, but they can’t do it forever.
Sea Fair’s existence beyond its semi-centennial anniversary remains seriously in question without the initiative of some new volunteers and a set of fresh faces on its organizing committee.
Sea Fair draws thousands of children, youth and young adults to Willingdon Beach every July. If even a few among the crowds this weekend can realize the need for their input and assistance, the event will be there for future generations to enjoy.
