One person died this morning after a fiery crash in Toronto's east end.

City Police say officers were called to the scene when a black BMW collided with a poll around 12:25 a.m.

They say the vehicle slammed into a hydro pole after running two red lights and clipping another vehicle on Eglinton Avenue.

Investigators say the BMW "caught fire and was consumed by flames," adding the driver and lone occupant was trapped inside.

They say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are asking any witnesses to contact them.
