We mourn the loss of a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Patricia Lee Hill passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents William and Elizabeth Dawson, husband Robert Guenard in 1986 and Michael Hill in 2016.
Lee is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Rob) Crawford, son Rory (Nicole) Guenard, brother Tom (Linda) Dawson, cousin Sherill (Bryan) Hannay, stepdaughters Lisa (Ron) Racine and Tricia (Bob) Alexandruk and grandchildren Britt, Talia, Colin, Chris, Kendra and Alyssa.
Lee was born in Powell River and completed her schooling here before going to university in Vancouver. As a graduate of UBC, she spent the majority of her working career at the Bank of Montreal, where she was the assistant manager and a pillar of that organization. In Lee’s retirement years, she enjoyed quilting, reading and gardening, in addition to her involvement with Powell River Hospital Foundation and the early days of Myrtle Point Golf Club.
Lee had a tight-knit circle of friends whom she loved dearly and shared many memories with. Many of these friends sat around our kitchen table when we were young, were there when we accidentally set fire to the upstairs bathroom, were part of our Savary Island camping adventures and were our rock over these last few months. You are all part of our family and please know you are appreciated and loved by us all.
As a mom, Lee was forever patient, strong and brilliantly supportive; the kind we were so fortunate to have in our corner.
Lee was a beautiful woman with a lovely smile and a kind heart. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be terribly missed.
Thank you to Doctor Rossouw, the nurses at Powell River General Hospital and home care; your support and care was excellent.
A service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, October 7, at Powell River United Church with a tea to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society British Columbia and Yukon.
