December 29; Powell River
At approximately 2:26 pm, police responded to a report of a possible breach of the Quarantine Act. A couple had recently returned from an international vacation and was visiting family in Powell River rather than isolating in their home in Alberta. Police confirmed with Canadian Border Services Agency that the couple had arrived back in Canada fewer than 14 days earlier. A male and female were charged under the Quarantine Act and each were issued violation tickets in excess of $1,000. They were also advised they would need to isolate at the residence in Powell River and could only return to Alberta once the quarantine period was over.

January 2; Joyce Avenue, 3800 block
At approximately 2:11 pm, police responded to a report of a theft. Sometime overnight, a child’s Razor A5LUX scooter was stolen from the front steps of a residence. The scooter is described as being royal blue in colour and has the word “Razor” on the handle and foot area. The scooter is valued at approximately $80.

January 5; Joyce Avenue, 4600 block
At approximately 8:38 pm, police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver near Joyce Avenue and Courtenay Street. Police attended, located and stopped the vehicle and spoke to the 67-year-old male driver, who showed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming liquor. A breath sample was obtained, which registered a fail on the approved screening device. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
