PUCK STOPPER: Tresor Wotton is the latest addition to the Powell River Kings roster. The goaltender was a second team all-star in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League last season.

Goaltender Tresor Wotton has signed with Powell River Kings of the BC Hockey League (BCHL).

Wotton, who was born in 2003, is coming off an all-star season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) with Waywayseecappo Wolverines. He compiled a 22-14-2 record with a 3.07 goals against average and an .897 save percentage, along with two shutouts in 40 games played.

“Tresor is coming off a very good season in Manitoba, where he was named to the league's second all-star team,” said Kings’ general manager Chad van Diemen. “We are confident that he can make the jump to the BCHL and help us win games.”

Wotton will look to form a formidable duo alongside youngster Owen Crudale in the crease next season. In each of the last two seasons, Kings have finished in the top three for most goals against, so Wotton and Crudale will be relied upon to change that script.

“We need to bring our goals against as a team down,” said van Diemen. “We feel that Tresor and Owen will be a good tandem that will be able to give us a chance to win every night.”

Wotton, who is from Foxwarren, Manitoba, is entering his final season of junior hockey and is excited to make his way out west.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity in the BCHL this year with Powell River,” said Wotton. “I have heard that the atmosphere in the rink and the fans are great, and I can’t wait to compete with the Kings every night. I am very excited to make Powell River my home for this upcoming season.”

Wotton’s uncle Mark is a former Vancouver Canucks’ draft pick who suited up in 43 National Hockey League games, as well as 896 games in the American Hockey League.
