Powell River Minor Hockey Association’s U13 rep team dropped to 0-3 at the 2021/2022 BC Hockey Tier 3 Championship in Trail after a 10-2 loss to South Okanagan on Monday, March 21.
Gabriel Caldarone and Cooper Lawry scored to answer first period goals by the opposition, resulting in a 2-2 game after 20 minutes. Lucas Gruntman and Jack Webber picked up assists for Powell River.
South Okanagan took control of the game in the second period, scoring a trio of goals, then added five more in the final frame.
Powell River earned the trip to the provincials by winning the Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association championship, and will look for its first win at the tournament on Tuesday, March 22, when the team faces Castlegar at 2:30 pm.
