Campbell River SC doubled the offensive output of Powell River Villa last weekend.
The Vancouver Island Soccer League (VISL) clubs met in the first leg of the Townsite Brewing Cup at Timberlane Park on Saturday, May 25. Villa goals in the 4-2 home loss were scored by Richard Murphy and Tylor Cramb.
The second game of the two-game series takes place on Saturday, June 1, at Robron High School in Campbell River. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 pm.
"It's a really great opportunity to get some meaningful games in the offseason," said Villa manager Chris McDonough. "Villa usually doesn’t train in the offseason so this cup gives us a chance to get the team back practicing and playing games. Most players in larger population centres have spring/summer leagues to stay fit and that’s what we’re trying to provide here in our area."
Villa will return to regular VISL Division 1 play in September. Campbell River competes in the league's second division.
